Susannah's Kittens

Susannah's first litter was born on August 9, 1999. Their father is Hot Shot. Interestingly, these kittens were born while we were on a camping trip at Baker Lake, on the flanks of Mt. Baker, a dormant Cascade volcano. We brought Susannah with us because her due date fell in the middle of the week-long camping trip (a family reunion that had been planned for over a year), and we didn't dare leave her with a cat sitter. Sure enough, she had her kittens three days into the trip; she didn't seem to mind having them in a rustic cabin instead of at home.

Susannah had four beautiful babies; we named each of them after a dormant Cascade volcano:

  • One brown classic tabby male, "Baker" UPDATED 11/4
  • One brown classic tabby female, "Helens"
  • Two red classic tabby and white males, "Rainier" (now Jesse James) and "Shasta" UPDATED 11/4

Here is the whole litter at 10 weeks of age. Left to right, they are Helens, Baker, Rainier, and Shasta. (All four kittens are spoken for.)
