and
Pinecoon's Unsinkable Molly Brown
Punch and Molly are both brown classic tabbies -- littermates out of Rumble and
McCoy. They share a home in Redmond with their owners, Keri & Jud.
At 8 months of age, Punch is a very
large, long-bodied, solid boy with thick lynx tips, a long square muzzle, and an
extravagantly long tail. Grace and poise are not his strong suit right now: he
is currently growing so fast that his mind is at odds with his big body, and as
a result, it's not uncommon for him to misjudge a leap or accidentally fall off
the couch. Punch's owner, Keri, adds: "He
could have been named 'Chip off the Ol’ Block' because he is the spittin’ image
of his daddy Rumble. Plus, then we could have called him 'Blockhead'
:-)."
According to Keri: "Punch likes nothing
better than to be near or (preferably) on his people. A lap never
remains empty for long; if you happen to be asleep, your prone body is fair
game. I have been awakened from a sound sleep several times with a disturbing
sensation of weight on my chest only to discover I have an overgrown kitten
sleeping on me, and a huge paw stretched across my face. And if that weren’t
enough, he snores. His other favorite pastime is chasing and harassing his
sister Molly. Don’t let that sweet little feminine face fool you. Half the
time, she is the instigator. While she is the smaller of the two, she is still a
good-sized, solid girl and usually gives as good as she gets."
Molly earned the “unsinkable” moniker when, as an 8-week-old kitten, she
suddenly collapsed from a severe bacterial septicemia (probably from a
littermate bite wound, though we never found an actual wound) that nearly killed
her. But plucky Molly, with the able help of our wonderful veterinarian,
battled the odds and survived. (Oddly enough, Molly was born "tail-challenged"
-- her tail is only a few inches long. It's a cute little flippy pom-pom that is
every bit as expressive as a regular tail, at least the way Molly uses it.)
According to Keri: "Molly is smart and spunky, but less demonstrative than her
brother: she likes to be petted, but usually on her terms. While she may not be
on you (which is actually a blessing – there wouldn’t be enough room for
BOTH of them), she is almost always near you, thus earning herself the
nickname of Molly Underfoot.”
