Oscar is a brown tabby male
with good boning and a long, dense, solid body. He has huge ears and
lavish lynx tips, and an extremely long, square, well-defined muzzle. His
profile is a long, gentle scoop and he has a deep, strong chin.
Because Oscar is headed for
the show ring, we are hoping he will have a great show temperament to go
with what promises to be excellent show type. Right now, things look
hopeful, as long as the judges can keep him on the judging table...
Oscar is very active, inquisitive, and intelligent; at the tender age of
11 weeks, he figured out how to open the cupboard doors in our bathroom --
and pulled several rolls of toilet paper out into the middle of the floor,
where he proceeded to carry out a fierce battle (he won). He is quite a
goodnatured and affectionate fellow, though he doesn't usually much like
to cuddle -- there are just so many things to get into that he
really doesn't have time for kissy stuff.
One of Oscar's nicknames is
Guided Missile, because as soon as you open the door to the kitten area of
our house, he dives between your legs with astounding speed and accuracy.
Another nickname is Squirmin' Herman -- when you hold him for too long
(more than 5 seconds or so), he starts to wriggle (purring all the time,
but nonetheless determined to escape) until you finally put him down. Then
he's down on the floor, round the room a few times, and back into your lap
for another 5 seconds of petting...
Oscar has just gone to live with his new owners, Eric
and Julie Benjamin, who insisted on adopting him despite the Caution label we
stuck prominently on the front of his contract. We've recommended that they invest heavily in
museum wax and child-proof cabinet locks, and pack away any breakables that
can't be nailed down... Here
is Oscar at 8 weeks of age:

This next photo isn't the most flattering in terms of
his expression,
but it shows his muzzle length, which we love:
