Hana's 2nd Litter: Arwen

Arwen is a brown classic tabby female, daughter of Hana and Wills. Like her littermates, she is named after a character from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

Arwen is a spunky little thing who is not in the least intimidated by her rowdy brothers. Although she can be very sweet and affectionate, and has the loudest purr in the litter, she is not as outgoing as her brothers. (She is at her "shyest" when our daughter is trying to catch a kitten so she can carry it around like a baby; Arwen dislikes being upside down, and usually manages to avoid being caught.) She does, however, deeply appreciate a quiet lap, especially if accompanied by a skillful scratch-behind-the-ears. Unfortunately, Arwen sometimes purrs so loudly under these circumstances that her brother Aragorn thinks he must be missing out on something; then he climbs right in on top of her, effectively ending her quiet snuggle session.

Arwen has the most intense and interesting eye color -- one we've rarely seen before. We think her eyes might end up as a deep copper when she gets older, rather than the typical yellow-green you see in most Maine Coons.

Arwen is now living in Portland, Oregon with her new owners, Linda and Roger Loven. Here she is (at right) at about four months of age:
